Samira Nour has been studying the art of belly dance for eight years, most recently, with Tasha of Phillipsburg, NJ, whose mentor was the late Serena of NYC.
Samira has taught basic and intermediate belly dance classes in NJ, MA and PA. She has also taught pre-teen belly dance classes in Easton, PA. Samira currently provides a variety of workshops on the history of belly dance for York College of Pennsylvania.
Samira is an advocate of multiculturalism and diversity. Through teaching belly dance, Samira is able to enhance women's self-esteem, motivation and body image.
Samira was awarded a scholarship to complete her 136-hour DansKinetics certification training from Kripalu Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts on June 15, 2007. She studied with Megha Nancy Buttenheim, Director of Kripalu Yoga Dance (DansKinetics) Department.
On May 9, 2008, Samira completed her Pre-Natal Yoga Certification from the Kripalu Center with Janice Clarfield of Canada.
Samira holds her BA degree in Lusophone Studies, the study of the Portuguese language and the countries that speak Portuguese. Her MA is in Higher Education; Student Affairs with a concentration in multiculturalism and diversity, both from the University of Connecticut.
